Investigation Continues Into Pool Party Shooting That Killed Young Rapper

GRANADA HILLS (CBSLA.com) — No arrests have been made yet in a shooting at a Granada Hills pool party that killed an up-and-coming rapper, but police are hopeful security video will help them identify a suspect.

Justin Lishey, better known as Kid Cali, was shot several times in the back and rushed to a hospital, where he died Saturday night. Two other men in their 20s were also shot, but they are expected to survive their injuries.

Lishey, 30, was a young father who was on the rise, having recently performed with bigger names like Snoop Dogg. The coroner has yet to confirm his identity.

Lishey's sister, Kristian, said she was told her brother was shot five times.

"It was the worst day of my life," she said.

Police say more than 100 people paid to get into the pool party held at a million-dollar home in the 12400 block of Longacre Avenue in Granada Hills, which had been advertised on social media.

According to the Los Angeles Times, LAPD Deputy Chief Bob Green said there were several security cameras on the mansion grounds.

"There is plenty of video," Green said. "There are witnesses, and we are hoping they will come forward with information. We believe this is (a) solvable homicide."

Police have not released a motive for the attack or any information about the suspect.
