City Offers $35,000 Reward To Help Catch Sexual Predator

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A reward of $35,000 is being offered for information about a sexual assault suspect who's been stalking women in Echo Park, Westlake, Silver Lake, Hollywood and Downtown LA.

Police have released security video of the suspect, who's been involved in at least eight cases of sexual assault and home invasion. He's described as 25 to 30, 6 feet tall, weighing 170 to 190 pounds. In each of the attacks, he's worn blue high-top sneakers and a green T-shirt with an image of the Virgin Mary.

The suspect has been known to carry a knife.

The first attack took place Aug. 1.

According to police, the man entered unlocked apartments. In some cases, victims left their doors unlocked while they went to a laundry room.

Police are urging everyone to keep their doors locked at all times.

LACouncilman Mitch O'Farrell and County Supervisor Hilda Solis introduced motions Tuesday to provide the reward money.

"I want to send a strong message to the community that this type of behavior will not be tolerated," said O'Farrell in a news release. "The Los Angeles Police Department needs your help in keeping our neighborhoods safe and crime free, and I urge anyone with information on these cases to please come forward and assist in this investigation."
