Police Need Help Finding Missing Santa Ana Woman

SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — Santa Ana police need your help finding a missing 82-year-old woman.

Carol Monty was last seen at about 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 3. walking out the front gate of MacArthur Village Condominiums, where she lives alone, according to police.

She told a neighbor she was going to seek medical attention after an accident at home, police said.

"She called the neighbor on Monday and Tuesday that she fell off the ladder inside her house, and she got hurt and she needed help. The neighbor didn't return the call," said neighbor John Gomez.

Detectives said Monty likes to walk across the street to the Trader Joe's near South Coast Plaza almost everyday.

Gomez, who has been posting flyers of Monty all over the neighborhood, said "we checked the hospitals, called around and nothing."

He said she does not have dementia and has never taken off like this before.

He suspects foul play. "She don't have a lot of visitors. When she leave her house, she would always lock up everything. And when she went missing, everything was open," Gomez added.

The neighbor said a maintenance worker told him he saw Monty on Wednesday with her nephew, who was in town from Las Vegas.

Gomez said he spoke to the nephew, who said he hasn't seen Monty since his visit.

Monty is 5-feet-5 inches tall, 105 pounds with light brown hair and brown eyes.

If you have seen her, contact Santa Ana police Missing Persons Investigator Velarde-Reyes at (714) 245-8393, watch commander at (714) 245-8701 or dispatch at (714) 834-4211.
