CHP Recommends Charges Against Dennis Rodman In Alleged OC Hit-And-Run

SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com/AP) — The California Highway Patrol has recommended that former basketball player Dennis Rodman face charges in an alleged hit-and-run freeway crash last month.

Officer Florentino Olivera told The Orange County Register on Thursday that the agency recommended that prosecutors charge Rodman with felony hit-and-run and driving the wrong way on a freeway.

Prosecutors say the July 20 incident is still under review and have yet to determine whether to file charges against the five-time NBA champion.

Rodman was named a "person of interest" in the two-vehicle crash, which occurred at 12:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the freeway near Broadway, according to Olivera.

A driver in a black BMW sedan told the CHP the other driver left the scene of the collision, and alleged he recognized Rodman as being behind the wheel, Olivera said.

A passenger in the BMW complained of pain following the collision, but there were no major injuries, Olivera said.

Rodman, who was in Atlantic City, New Jersey, at an event Friday where he was giving out copies of his children's books, says nothing happened, there was no wreck and there were no injuries.
