Only On 2: Man Desperate To Get Dog Back After She's Stolen During Car Theft

EL MONTE (CBSLA.com) A Southland dog owner is desperate to get his pooch back after the dog was stolen during a cr theft in broad daylight.

CBS2's Stacey Butler spoke to George Gregorian on Thursday evening, just hours after Daisy the dog was stolen.

The car, with the dog inside, was stolen about 11:30 this morning outside a fast food restaurant in El Monte.

"I saw a guy open my car door and jump in my car and just take off with it," Gregorian said.

Daisy, a 12-year-old Jack Russell terrier, goes to work with Gregorian every day.

This morning, he said he left the car running so that Daisy could stay cool.

"My dogs always with me," Gregorian said, "I miss her. I just want my dog back."

Gregorian said he called 911.

Meanwhile, a tracking device in the car's glove compartment allowed him to follow the car everywhere he went.

Using a friend's car, he was able to remain on the trail.

"Each time I got there, he'd be on the run again," Gregorian says.

Gregorian's wife posted Daisy's story on Facebook and the response has been overwhelming.

Friends who are aiding in the search said they found some of her blankets discarded in an Azusa park. The dog, however, is still no where in sight.

Around 4:30 p.m., Gregorian says he tracked his cat to a business in South El Monte. He called police and community service officers showed up and took a report.

He says he asked for them to wait with him while he wated for a tow truck to take him to get a second set of keys. He says they left.

"I told him I didn't feel safe there. As soon as they left, I heard the engine start and I saw a guy taking off in my car again," Gregorian says.

Gregonian said the same man stole his car for a second time. He found the car abandoned a few blocks away.

Now he is worried that Daisy -- away from her family for the first time in 12 years -- is in trouble. She's without the heart medication she needs twice a day and without it, she won't live long.

"I'm going to be searching for my dog all night at parks and locations where I think she's at. If anyone out there can help, please," Gregorian said.
