Summer Heat Wave Brings Triple-Digit Temperatures To Southland

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) The Southland's latest heat wave will peak Wednesday with temperatures reaching triple-digits in several communities.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will hit 87 degrees in downtown Los Angeles, 90 in Long Beach, 93 in Fullerton, 98 in Pasadena and 101 in Woodland Hills.

By Friday, highs in the 95 to 105 range will be common away from the coast, meteorologists said.

High pressure is expected to settle over the Southland, lessening the marine layer and ushering in warmer weather.

Inland areas could see higher-than-normal temperatures as late as next Tuesday. Coastal areas may also see some cooling on Sunday.

Temperatures are expected to gradually increase over the next few days, rising about four to five degrees by Saturday, forecasters said.
