LAPD Investigating 2015 Playmate Of The Year Over Locker Room Photo

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The LAPD is investigating Playboy's 2015 Playmate of the Year after she took a picture of a nude woman in a locker room and posted the photo on Snapchat, according to reports.

Dani Mathers, 29, posted the picture of the nude woman – taken through a glass door from what appears to be a sauna – plus a photo of herself trying to hold back a sneer, with the caption, "If I can't unsee this then you can't either." It has since been deleted, along with her Twitter and Instagram accounts.

Mathers later said she intended to only send the photo to a friend, but was unfamiliar with Snapchat's settings, and sent it publicly.

There was an immediate backlash on Twitter.

LA Fitness reported the incident to the LAPD and banned Mathers from all of its locations.

The LAPD's West division sexual assault section is investigating the incident, the LA Times reported.

Mathers posted an apology on YouTube.

"I have chosen to do what I do for a living because I love the female body," she said. "I know that body-shaming is wrong and that's not what I'm about. It's not the type of person that I am."

A woman who claims she was the subject of Mather's photo posted a response to Facebook Saturday.

"Here's the deal- you may have been a Playboy model but not all of us work out to be 'hot,'" she wrote. "Some of us work out simply to honor the bodies we were given. That's all that woman was trying to do and you violated her. Shame on you. I bet I could get 100s of women to post their beautiful bodies and regardless of size, shape or color, they will ALL be more beautiful than the ugliness you showed in that post."
