UCLA Campus On Edge After Several Reports Of Peeping Toms Haunt Students

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Several UCLA students are pretty shaken over reports of a Peeping Tom around the campus.

Campus police say there have been four reported incidents in the past month.

At least one of those incidents occurred at an apartment building on Roebling Avenue, where the building is filled with UCLA students.

"It just makes me feel scared, very uncomfortable" UCLA student Ashley Evangelista said.

Evangelista says her roommate fell victim to a stranger peeping into her room more than once.

"She was home alone, and then she was like, 'Oh, I'm just psyching myself out,' " Evangelista said.

It was true, however, because they say the man came back, and then they eventually heard him trying to crawl on the ledge under their windows.

"We just make sure we lock all the windows and the doors, and we're all getting Tasers right now," Evangelista said.

UCLA police sent an email to students warning that this has happened at least four times from June 7 to July 12 in locations on Robeling Avenue and nearby Gayley Avenue.

Another student, Kristina Kotyza, says she's heard about incidents like this in the past in a different building on the same block.

"It's terrifying," Kotyza said.

"I wish we had better security here. I mean, these old buildings, they're like falling down and anyone can look in the window," she added.

UCLA police say they are looking for two men. One is about 30 years old, and the other looks to be college-age.

They're also reminding students to lock their windows and doors and report suspicious activity.
