Amazon Offers Major Deals During Second Annual Prime Day

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Online shoppers, take your marks -- it's Amazon Prime Day.

Amazon.com hosted its second annual Prime Day Tuesday to celebrate the site's biggest event ever with over 100,000 Black Friday-style deals for Prime members.

"Prime Day is a unique opportunity to discover new items and great deals, on top of our already low prices," said Greg Greeley, Vice President of Amazon Prime. "Following last year's record sales, we have dramatically increased the inventory behind many deals."

New and existing members worldwide found deals across nearly every department, like $50 off the Amazon Echo, a $649.99 curved 55-inch 4K Ultra HD Smart LED TV and $30 off a Kindle Paperwhite.

Amazon customers also have the opportunity to win an unforgettable Prime Music Experience -- with top artists, including Carrie Underwood, Blink-182, Norah Jones, Flo Rida, The Lumineers, Pentatonix and more -- by listening to a select song from select Prime Music playlists.

Each winning customer will receive free airfare, hotel accommodations, tickets to see the artist in concert, and a meet-and-greet with the singers.

Customers who uploaded a photo to their Prime Photos account were eligible for a chance to win $5,000 in Amazon gift cards.

Shortly before 6 a.m., some Prime customers reported having difficulty checking out online.
