2 Killed When Motor Home Slams Into Canoga Park Pole

CANOGA PARK (CBSLA.com/AP) — Two people were killed when their motor home slammed into a power pole in the San Fernando Valley.

Around 3:30 p.m. Monday, police said the full-sized RV was traveling northbound on De Soto Avenue when the driver lost control, hit a pole and sheared a fire hydrant.

The motor home then hit a guardrail above the Browns Canyon Wash and was left teetering. Both people found inside died at the scene.

The crash also caused an electrical hazard and a diesel fuel spill, requiring attention from the fire department and other crews.

The identities of the dead have not been released. It's unclear if they were related.

It wasn't immediately clear whether any other vehicles were involved. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
