Gunman Wanted For Fatally Shooting Man, Critically Wounding 3 Others In Willowbrook

WILLOWBROOK (CBSLA.com) — Homicide detectives Wednesday searched for a gunman who fatally shot a 22-year-old man and injured three others in Willowbrook.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, deputies were sent around 10 p.m. Tuesday to the 13800 block of South Avalon Boulevard for report of an assault with a deadly weapon.

Upon their arrival, authorities located three men suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Paramedics pronounced one of the men dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.

The other victims were transported to a hospital for treatment of their injuries. At this time, they remain listed in critical condition.

Deputies later learned a third victim transported himself to the hospital.

A preliminary investigation revealed a Hispanic man walked up to the group of men and fired several rounds at them.

The victims, who were also armed, returned fire and struck the suspect numerous times.

The shooting appears to be gang-related, authorities said.

A detailed description of the suspect has not been provided.

The investigation is ongoing.
