Attorney General Brings Community Policing Tour To Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch will bring her national "Community Policing Tour" to Los Angeles Wednesday, with a focus on efforts by law enforcement agencies to use social media to build community relationships and increase transparency.

"One of my top priorities as attorney general is strengthening relationships between law enforcement officers and the communities we serve and protect," Lynch said in a statement. "During the second phase of my Community Policing Tour, I will be highlighting some of the innovative efforts under way around the country to build trust, foster cooperation and enhance public safety."

According to the Department of Justice, Lynch will meet with U.S. Attorney Eileen Decker, Los Angeles police Chief Charlie Beck and Mayor Eric Garcetti for an LAPD technology briefing, discussing real-time crime analysis. She is expected to be briefed on the department's Virtual Ride Along and body-camera programs.

Lynch will also attend an event Wednesday night opening the city's Summer Night Lights anti-crime and anti-gang program.

Lynch has previously stopped in Ohio, Alabama, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Washington. The latest phase of her tour includes stops in Florida, North Carolina, Oregon, Arizona and Indiana.

On Thursday, Lynch will take part in a Facebook Live town hall from Facebook's Playa Vista campus.
