Deadly Crash Shuts Down Portion Of Northbound 5 Freeway In Boyle Heights

BOYLE HEIGHTS (CBSLA.com) — Traffic was backed up for several miles in Boyle Heights Monday while officials investigated a deadly crash.

A vehicle rammed into the back of a big rig just after 4 a.m. on the northbound 5 Freeway at the eastbound 10 Freeway, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Paramedics pronounced one person dead at the scene. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending family notification.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
