Man Dies After Fire Erupts In Long Beach Apartment Complex

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Homicide detectives Thursday investigated the death of an adult man whose body was found inside of a burning apartment complex in Long Beach.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, officers were sent shortly before 11 p.m. Wednesday to a fourplex building located in the 500 block of West 7th Street for report of a residential fire.

Upon their arrival, authorities located smoke coming out of the rear portion of the building.

After extinguishing the blaze, firefighters located a man, believed to be in his mid 30s, and began life saving measures.

Paramedics transported the victim to a trauma center where he later died. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.

According to police, the man's death is being investigating under possible suspicious circumstances.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by police and arson detectives.
