'#ShootBack' Posters Emerge In WeHo In Wake Of Orlando Shooting

WEST HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Days after the worst mass shooting in U.S. history, some West Hollywood residents have already adopted a new motto: #ShootBack.

Several rainbow-flag posters with the hashtag and an image of the popular "Don't Tread On Me" snake were spotted starting Wednesday morning around WeHo and captured in images posted to social media.

The gay community was rocked by the attack Sunday at the Pulse nightclub outside Orlando, which left 49 dead and injured more than 50 others.

LGBT gun rights groups such as Pink Pistols have issued statements urging the community to rethink its stance on firearms following the attack.

Described as a club for gay and lesbian gun owners, Pink Pistols says its membership numbers have doubled since the attack.

"At such a time of tragedy, let us not reach for the low-hanging fruit of blaming the killer's guns," said spokesperson Gwendolyn Patton. "Let us stay focused on the fact that someone hated gay people so much they were ready to kill or injure so many."
