Donald Trump Revokes Press Credentials For Washington Post

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump revoked press credentials for the Washington Post Monday for what he described as "incredibly inaccurate coverage and reporting".

Trump announced the move on his Facebook page, writing, "Based on the incredibly inaccurate coverage and reporting of the record setting Trump campaign, we are hereby revoking the press credentials of the phony and dishonest Washington Post."

The move apparently came in response to a Washington Post article published Monday that suggested that comments made by Trump "seemed to repeatedly accuse President Obama on Monday of identifying with radicalized Muslims who have carried out terrorist attacks in the United States and being complicit in the mass shooting at a gay nightclub in Orlando" during a Fox News interview.

The alleged suggestion came in an interview with Fox News Channel's "Fox and Friends" Monday.

"Look, we're led by a man that either is not tough, not smart, or he's got something else in mind," Trump said. "And the something else in mind — you know, people can't believe it. People cannot, they cannot believe that President Obama is acting the way he acts and can't even mention the words 'radical Islamic terrorism.' There's something going on. It's inconceivable. There's something going on."

When pressed to elaborate, Trump later appeared to backtrack on the suggestion.

"I happen to think that he just doesn't know what he's doing," Trump said, "but there are many people that think he doesn't want to get it. He doesn't want to see what's really happening."

While there was no immediate comment from The Post, Phillip Bump, writer for the Post's politics blog, The Fix, posted a modified photo of what appeared to be a "Make America Great Again" hat worn by Trump and many of his supporters.

On Sunday, Trump called for Obama to step down as president because he refuses to say "radical Islamic terrorism," and warned on "CBS This Morning" on Monday that more Orlando-style attacks will continue to occur if Mr. Obama refuses to use that exact phrasing.
