Summer Heat Wave Brings Triple-Digit Temperatures To Southland

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Scorching temperatures continued Friday, reaching triple digits in parts of the Southland.

The National Weather Service says the combination of "hot temperatures, widespread humidity and gusty onshore winds will bring elevated fire danger across inland areas."

Officials urged residents to drink plenty of water to avoid heat-related illnesses and to avoid outdoor work in high heat.

Children, the elderly and pets should never be left in a closed car that is parked in hot weather.

Highs were expected to be in the 70s along the coast, low 80s in metropolitan Los Angeles, and 100 in Woodland Hills, Saugus and Yorba Linda.
