Crews Work To Surround Thousand-Acre Wildfire In Kern County

BAKERSFIELD (AP) — Crews are working to surround a wildfire that has charred at least 1,000 acres of brush and timber in a wilderness area of Kern County.

The Bureau of Land Management says no structures are threatened by the blaze burning in rough terrain Thursday about 60 miles northeast of Bakersfield. There is zero containment.

BLM crews are getting help from Kern County firefighters, including a helicopter crew.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
