It's OK To Let Your Infant Cry-It-Out, Sleep Study Suggests

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A new study suggests that it's okay to let babies cry themselves to sleep.

The study conducted by researchers in Australia observed 43 sets of parents with kids between the ages of 6 months to 16 months.

Of those, one group was asked to let baby cries it out, while another tried bedtime fading, where they had the child go to bed closer to their bedtime.

A third, which was the control group, did not utilize sleep training.

Researchers found infants who were left alone while fussing in their cribs fell asleep faster and stayed asleep longer.

The study also found that babies' stress levels were about the same when parents used gentler methods, such as delaying bedtimes to tire out infants.
