Crews Get Upper Hand Battling Brush Fire Near Lake View Terrace

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Fire crews Monday night were fighting a fast-moving brush fire in the hills above Lake View Terrace.

The fire was reported at around 2:30 p.m. near the 210 Freeway and the 11300 block of Wheatland Avenue.

The wind-stoked fire began burning uphill, away from the residential streets, toward the Angeles National Forest.

It had burned nearly 200 acres and was 35 percent contained as of 7:30 p.m., the LA Fire Department said.

About 100 firefighters from agencies including the Los Angeles Fire Department, LA County Fire Department and U.S. Forest Service arrived to battle the blaze on the ground and with firefighting aircraft.

Arson investigators were on the scene.

No structures were threatened, and no injuries reported.
