Study: Wearing Makeup Can Earn Female Workers Thousands More Per Year

HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — It's easy to spend big money on small items like makeup.

But now, according to a sociologist from UC Irvine, a painted face could earn a woman about $6 thousand more a year than a woman who wears little or no makeup.

"That could be true, not because of the way you look but the way you feel, and when you feel good, you say you gonna give me what I deserve," said Paris Roark, a shopper in Hollywood. "I'm worth it."

"Working at a store, you're going want someone good looking to attract people into the store," said Daniel Jolliff, a retail employee.

Some people don't like the idea that drawing on eyeliner could help draw a bigger paycheck.

"It's about like how much value a person is adding to their job and what their bringing to that position," shopper Megha Chaudhry said.
