Estranged Husband In Custody In Fatal Shooting At Anaheim Park

ANAHEIM (CBSLA.com) — Police identified a woman they say was gunned down by her estranged husband at Peralta Canyon Park.

Claudia Espino Garcia, 32, of Tustin, was shot to death on Thursday by 49-year-old Humberto Servin of Orange, Anaheim police Sgt. Daron Wyatt said.

Servin was booked on suspicion of murder and was being held on $1 million bail, he said.

The shooting was reported at 2:37 p.m., Wyatt said. Officers responded to a call that a woman had been shot at the park, 115 N. Pinney Drive.

When they arrived they found the victim slumped over in the driver's seat of her car suffering from gunshot wounds. Garcia was taken to Orange County Global Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Witnesses, including several children, gave officers a description of Servin and his vehicle, Wyatt said.

About 15 minutes later, officers found Servin's 2002 gray Dodge Ram truck in the parking lot of the Anaheim Police Department's East District substation at 8201 E. Santa Ana Canyon Road. Servin was located nearby and taken into custody.

The victim and Servin were married but estranged, Wyatt said. Investigators were working to determine how long they were together and then separated.

Police recovered a weapon in Servin's vehicle, but investigators need to do forensic testing to determine if it was the weapon used in the shooting, Wyatt said.

The couple had three children who are now in the care of county social workers, Wyatt said.
