Caught On Video: Woman Wanted For Attempted Package Theft From Alhambra Home

ALHAMBRA (CBSLA.com) — Police asked for help identifying a woman who was captured on video while allegedly trying to steal packages from the porch of an Alhambra home.

A homeowner had just arrived home at about 4:40 p.m. Tuesday when he saw a woman approaching the front of his house, Alhambra police said in a Facebook post.

The woman picked up two packages that had been delivered and left near the front door, police said. So the homeowner got out of his car and started recording her with his cell phone.

The man confronted the woman, who apparently tried to convince him that her mother lived at the house and the packages belonged to her. When he threatened to call the police, the woman dropped the packages and fled on foot, police said.

CBS2's Tom Wait spoke to the homeowner on Thursday evening about his encounter.

He said he was parked in front of his home when he saw the woman brazenly walk to the front of his home and try to remove some packages.

The homeowner said it was obvious she was casing several properties before she went up to his.

"I saw her walking, pacing around my house, so I was kind of wondering what she was doing," he says.

He grabbed his phone when she allegedly grabbed his property.

"It was kind of like a lot of adrenaline going through me. I wasn't really thinking but I just knew I had to record her to catch her. I'm surprised she was trying to convince me that it wasn't my house and that it was her house. I thought it was really funny," he told Wait.

He was surprised that the woman didn't show remorse -- and also flipped him the bird when she was walking away empty-handed.

"She definitely didn't feel any guilt," the homeowner said.

The packages contain tools the man uses for his appliance repair business, he told Wait.

Anyone with information about the woman's identity can make an anonymous tip to (626) 308-4875.

Wait reported several people, family included, apparently named the woman on social media. No arrests have been made at this writing.
