Former Verizon Customer Says He's Caught In 'Nightmare' After Frontier Took Over

RANCHO CUCAMONGA (CBSLA.com) — Thousands of Southern California homes and businesses are experiencing Internet connectivity issues and other problems following a transition to Frontier Communications.

"When you're without phone, Internet or television, it could be quite taxing on a family," said Gregory Bradley, a Frontier Communications customer.

Bradley was a Verizon Fios customer caught in what he calls a "nightmare" as Frontier Communications took over.

"It was unbearable," said Bradley. "I shared with him that this is the worst treatment I've ever received from any company in my life and he agreed."

He works from home as a corporate recruiter for the American Red Cross, relying solely on the Internet and phone, which was out for nearly two weeks.

Bradley ended up trying to work off the WiFi at a neighborhood Starbucks or use his phone as a hot spot.

He took time off from work to meet with technicians.

"Two days they said they were coming. So I decided to take time off for both of those days," he said. "And both of those days they didn't arrive."

Bradley said being cut off from the Internet is tough on his 4-year-old son with Autism, who relies on web-based activities.

"Without the Internet, it was really trying," he added.

Bradley even got a bill for two months with no discounts, and it's more than his previous bill.

The Utilities Commission has logged hundreds of complaints for spotty to non-existent service.

Frontier Communications release a statement that said in part: "There will be issues that need to be addressed and that's what we're focused on. We apologize for any inconvenience our customers are experiencing and we thank them for their patience."

As for Bradley, he put his corporate recruiting skills to work and contacted corporate executives.

He just got service back but hopes this sends a strong signal.

"Whenever a company or someone tries to treat me as if I don't matter or as if I am small, I fight back," he said.
