Prince-Themed Salon To Donate Proceeds From Purple Hair Extensions To Charity He Supported

BURBANK (CBSLA.com) — Many fans of Prince have been remembering the legendary singer since his death one week ago Thursday.

But Burbank salon "Darling Nikki's" has been dedicated to him for years.

Inside, music by Prince fills the air and his photos hang on the purple walls.

"I didn't want this place to be like 'in your face Prince,' but I wanted to make it very clear that everyone in here is a very big Prince fan and we appreciate everything he has done," said salon owner Ashley Largey.

Largey is also a master stylist at her salon she named it after his song, "Darling Nikki."

"The whole premise of the salon, it was always going to be a Prince-themed salon," she said. "The first thing we came up with was the name."

Largey was so upset over the news of his death she got a Prince tattoo to add to her already purple hair.

"Prince was my favorite musician. I just thought he was a genius. So incredibly talented," she said.

She hopes to use temporary purple hair to help with one of Prince's causes.

"We are going to be doing individual purple hair extensions. One for $10, three for $25. And all the proceeds will be donated to a charity that Prince supported," she said.

In the meantime, she says, she just may add more Prince memorabilia to the salon.
