'Loveline' Ends After More Than 3 Decades On The Air

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Thursday marked the end of an era for the popular, long-running radio show "Loveline" on KROQ.

The syndicated show signed off Thursday night after more than three decades, during which host "Dr. Drew" Pinsky dished out sex, relationship and medical advice to listeners nationwide.

Adam Carolla, who co-hosted from 1995 through 2005, returned for the final broadcast.

Pinsky joined Loveline in 1984 as the expert in the "Ask the Surgeon" segment.

"I will take away a deep sense of gratitude that these people let us in their lives every night. I was interested in coming every night. There must be something wrong with me," Pinsky said.

The show featured many celebrities, from actors to musicians, including Coldplay, Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto.

The program covered many topics ranging from lighthearted to very serious, such sex abuse and rape.

"So, when these things would come in, it's just a matter of understanding what this is, how it affects them [listeners]. They're not alone in  where to go for treatment," Pinsky added.

He told CBS2/KCAL9's Brittney Hopper: "Numb. It's weird. When the time frames are so big. It's been so much a part of your life for so long, it's hard to process. It feels like I've been given some kind of life sentence or something."

Pinsky said he is leaving to focus on his family and other projects. He is also a host on the reality TV show "Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew" on VH-1.

But this may not be the end. Pinsky said "Loveline" may come back in other forms and does not plan to close the door to that possibility.
