LA Workers Join Fight For Higher Minimum Wage Pay Nationwide

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Los Angeles workers Thursday protested in support for the minimum wage to be raised to $15 nationwide.

The rally began at 6 a.m. located at McDonald's in the 100 block of West Manchester Avenue.

The group, which consisted of fast-food, home care, child care, airport and higher education workers, marched to the 300 block of South Grand Avenue.

The protest, which was timed to hit before Tax Day, focused on the idea that workers and communities are being starved of what is needed to build a bright future and pay for the necessities to support their families, according to organizers.

The strike followed an unprecedented series of pay increases, which raised the minimum wage to $15 an hour for workers in California, New York and Pennsylvania.
