Police Fatally Shoot Knife Wielding Man Inside Boyle Heights Apartment

BOYLE HEIGHTS (CBSLA.com) — Police Monday investigated the circumstances surrounding an officer-involved shooting that took place in an apartment in Boyle Heights.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers were sent around 8:30 p.m. Sunday to a residence located in the area of Mission Road and Gabriel Garcia Marquez Street for report of a burglary in progress.

Upon their arrival, authorities located a man holding a victim at knife point. An officer-involved shooting subsequently occurred.

The suspect was struck by gunfire and died at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending family notification, however, authorities described him as a Hispanic man believed to be in his mid-to-late 20s.

No other injuries were reported.

The investigation is ongoing.
