Visit A National Park For Free During National Park Week

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) - National Park Week will be taking place in mid-April, which means all U.S. national parks that charge an entry fee will now be free.

The National Park Service turns 100 this year, and they want to kick of the centennial by "engaging communities through recreation, conservation, and historic preservation programs."

Parks that normally charge a fee to get in will be waiving the costs from April 16-24.

Some parks will also be offering special events: Yosemite, for example, is hosting a free Earth Day Festival on April 23 and ranger walks, a Centennial Junior Ranger event, and will also be screening the Ken Burns series, "The National Park: America's Best Idea."
