3 Dead, 3 Injured In Apparent DUI Head-On Crash In Hemet

HEMET (CBSLA.com)  —  Authorities said three people were killed and three others injured in a head-on crash in Hemet apparently caused by a drunk driver.

Empty alcohol containers were found in the wreckage of a Ford sedan that hit an SUV, according to firefighters.

Isaias Guerrero Jr., 26, Marcos Zaferino-Nabor, 25, and David Olivares, 18, all of Anza, were killed in the sedan.

Firefighters said they suspected a driver drinking alcohol was a factor in the 1:30 a.m. crash between a silver Ford sedan and a black GMC SUV on Florida Avenue west of North Lake Street.

The sedan had been driven eastbound on Florida Avenue when it swerved into the westbound lane and collided with the SUV, firefighters said.

Three people in the sedan were killed, while a fourth person in the sedan and two people in the SUV were injured and taken to a hospital, firefighters said.

The road was closed until about 8:30 a.m. as investigators worked at the crash site.
