No More Running To The Store? Amazon Expands Selection Of 'Dash Button' Products

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) - Amazon will begin offering more than 100 brands for its Dash Button feature just one year after its debut.

The Dash Button, a Wi-Fi connected device that reorders your favorite product "with the press of a button", is sold for $4.99.

The way it works is you stick a tiny, branded oval-shaped Dash Button near a product you frequently use in your home. Once you start running low on that specific brand, you simply press the button and Amazon automatically places an order for you without having to go to their website.

Some of the new brands being offered include Peet's Coffee, Burt's Bees, Nature Valley, Brawny, Clorox, Brita, and - wait for it - Trojan condoms.

To avoid multiple orders, Dash only will recognize the first push until the customer's order is delivered.

Amazon Dash director Daniel Rausch told USA Today that Dash Button orders have grown by more than 75 percent over the past three months and that customers are using Dash Buttons more than once a minute.

The feature is currently only available for members of Amazon Prime.
