Suspect Steals Pasadena Police Car After Threatening To Shoot People At In-N-Out

PASADENA (AP) — Pasadena authorities say a suspect that officers were trying to arrest for threatening to shoot people at a hamburger stand managed to break free, steal a patrol car and lead police on a high-speed pursuit.

Lt. John Luna says the suspect was eventually taken into custody after another patrol car rammed the stolen vehicle late Monday. When the suspect, whom police later identified as 52-year-old Joel Soto of Shafter, was struck by a stun gun, and jumped off the roof of a police car and landed on his feet, at which point he was taken into custody, Luna said.

Soto faces a variety of charges including assault with a deadly weapon, making criminal threats and grand theft auto.

Soto had allegedly threatened an employee at the In-N-Out Burger, assaulted a janitor with a fire extinguisher and broke a window at the restaurant.
