58-Year-Old Jon Lovitz Engaged to 27-Year-Old '90210' Actress

UPDATE 2:15 p.m. - April Fools' Day came a bit early as everyone on the internet overreacted to the news that Jon Lovitz and Jessica Lowndes were not only dating, but also engaged.

According to Yahoo, Lowndes admitted that her engagement was fake, and that this social media ploy was used as a way to promote her new music video "Deja Vu."

Lovitz plays a hospital-bound patient who dreams about his nurse in the video.

The actress wanted everyone to know that she is more than just an actress, and also owned up to the hoax in an Instagram post.

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) - Actors Jon Lovitz and Jessica Lowndes, who have a 31-year age gap, appear to not only be dating, but may also be engaged, according to a string of social media posts.

The 58-year-old Lovitz, who is best known for his early 90s stint on "Saturday Night Live" and the animated series "The Critic", seems to have taken the 27-year-old's heart after the former "90210" reboot actress sent numerous Snapchats, Tweets, and Instagram posts over the weekend.

It all started when Lowndes sent out a Instagram and Snapchat stating "there's a new man in my life."

After teasing her 700,000-plus followers on social media about being in a relationship with a mystery man, she later posted a picture of an engagement ring - without any further explanation.

Lowndes also posted a Thai proverb that reads "Old cows like to eat young grass" and added the comment, "And I love me some old cows".

But perhaps the most compelling piece of evidence was revealed when she posted a video of her being filmed in bed waking up, with a man holding the camera whose voice sounds a whole lot like Lovitz.

Clearly, Lovitz couldn't hold the secret in any longer, and spoiled the actress's big reveal by tweeting out that he was spending "Easter with my bunny."

Now the only question is: is this spring love or a social media hoax?
