LA Mission Hosts Annual Good Friday Event On Skid Row

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The Los Angeles Mission hosted its annual Good Friday event for the homeless in downtown Los Angeles.

Thousands of adults and children waited in line in the 300 block of East 5th Street to receive traditional Easter meals, which were offered until this afternoon on Skid Row.

Officials said more than 3,000 meals were prepared to feed the homeless/

In addition to the meals, each child received an Easter basket filled with goodies. Adults were given hygiene kits with new shoes and socks.

Shoe company Etnies donated 2,000 pairs of shoes and Bombas offered more than 1,200 pairs of socks for the event.

After the feast, Los Angeles Christian Health Center and volunteers washed the feet of the homeless.

Dozens of celebrities attended the event.
