Dwight Howard Caught Using Stickum Spray Against Hawks

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Former Lakers center and current Rockets big man Dwight Howard found himself in a little bit of trouble on Saturday.

The center was caught with Stickum Spray on his hands early in the first quarter against the Atlanta Hawks.

Howard applied the substance while waiting to check in at the scorers table.

Hawks forward Paul Millsap noticed something was up shortly after he touched the ball following Howard's entrance into the game.

Both teams were is told by the referee that "Stickum is illegal in the NBA" while Howard and the Rockets merely received a warning.

Weak, Dwight.

Really weak.

Following the ref's warning, (and Rockets coach JB Bickerstaff's obvious effort to step in front of the can while talking to the ref) , the can of Stickum was removed from the scorers table.

Stickum had been used for years in the National Football League to assist players in catching the ball.

"The use of adhesives such as Stickum was banned by the league in 1981, and the resulting action became known as the "Lester Hayes rule" in association with the Oakland Raiders defensive back known for his widespread use of Stickum."

Apparently Dwight Howard needs a little extra help holding onto the basketball.
