Coroner: In-N-Out Employee Found Dead In La Mirada Was Beaten, Not Shot

LA MIRADA (CBSLA.com) — An In-N-Out Burger employee found dead outside the La Mirada restaurant where she worked for two decades didn't die of a gunshot wound, but was fatally beaten, authorities said Wednesday.

Josefina Alcocer was found dead at 4:45 a.m. Friday in the parking lot of the restaurant, at 14341 Firestone Blvd. She was wearing her In-N-Out uniform, according to the sheriff's department.

The preliminary investigation reported that the 48-year-old woman had been shot, but an autopsy later determined that was not the case, coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter said. The cause of death was blunt force trauma.

Alcocer had worked for In-N-Out since 1996 and was one of the original employees at the La Mirada restaurant, the company said in a statement.

No arrests have been reported. Anyone with information about the crime can call sheriff's homicide detectives at (323) 890-5500.
