Search Underway After Shots Fired At LAPD Officer In Unmarked Vehicle In South LA

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — An LAPD officer sitting in an unmarked car in South Los Angeles was uninjured Tuesday after shots were fired at the officer's vehicle, according to police.

The shooting was reported around 6:30 a.m. near Coliseum Street and Edgehill Drive in the Crenshaw district, an LAPD Southwest Division spokesperson said.

Officers in a specialized unit were conducting surveillance in the area when a suspect drove by and shot at the officer's unmarked vehicle at least five times, police said.

The officer was not injured.

The suspect was believed to be driving a silver-colored Prius.
