Traffic Delays Expected While Vice Pres. Joe Biden Departs From LA

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Traffic delays are expected Monday as Vice President Joe Biden departs from Southern California.

Authorities advised the public to avoid the following areas from 8:30 a.m. to noon in order to prevent possible travel delays:

— Galaxy Way between the Avenue of the Stars area and Century Park East

— Avenue of the Stars between Santa Monica Boulevard and West Pico Boulevard

— Santa Monica Boulevard between Butler Avenue and Century Park East

— Tujunga Avenue between Magnolia Boulevard and Moorpark Street

— Sherman Way between Bellaire and Clybourn avenues

Traffic will also be limited or restricted on Avenue of the Stars between Constellation Avenue and Pico Boulevard until 11 a.m., authorities said.

On Sunday, Biden attended the 88th annual Academy Awards to urge Americans to take a stand against sexual violence by pledging to intervene in incidents of rape.

During the awards ceremony, the vice president introduced Lady Gaga for a performance of her song "Til It Happens to You" at the Dolby Theatre.

The campaign, "It's On Us," asks students to take a pledge to intervene if a sexual assault is taking place, to recognize that sexual contact without consent in an assault, to support survivors and to make sexual assault unacceptable.

Biden will depart from Los Angeles to Washington, D.C. later today.
