49-Year-Old Murrieta Man Held In Killing Of His Wife

MURRIETA (CBSLA.com)  —  Authorities said a 49-year-old Murrieta man is behind bars in the death of his wife.

Vincent Steven Elmer, 49, was arrested on suspicion of murder Thursday and is being held on a $1 million bail.

According to Lt. Ron Driscoll, officers were called to Elmer's residence in the 24300 block of Jackson Avenue about 10:30 a.m. to investigate reports of a deceased woman.

Detectives and a Riverside County deputy coroner conducted a preliminary examination of the 41-year-old victim, Driscoll said. Officials said it was apparent her death was not "accidental or self-inflicted."

An autopsy is pending to determine the cause of death, the lieutenant said.

Elmer was questioned by investigators and then taken into custody and booked into the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta.
