$75K Reward Offered For Suspect Wanted In Compton Baby's Shooting Death
COMPTON (CBSLA.com/AP) — Homicide detectives Wednesday continued to search for the suspect who shot a 1-year-old girl in the head and killed her in her crib.
Compton Mayor Aja Brown and the City Council, together with the FBI and the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors have each offered a $25,000 reward.
In total, $75,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who shot and killed Autumn Marie Johnson.
Investigators said the gunman got out of a car around 7 p.m. on Feb. 9 and fired at least five rounds at a converted garage in the 300 block of North Holly Avenue where the Johnson lived with her parents. Gunfire struck the infant and the family's dog.
Deputies transported her to a hospital in their patrol vehicle where she later died.
Officials said the gunfire was most likely meant for Johnson's father, who acknowledged being a gang member.
Authorities are looking for a newer model blue four-door Chevrolet Impala. Witnesses described the suspects as two African American men.
The investigation is ongoing.
