2 Adults Charged With Child Endangerment After Being Found With Nitrous Oxide During Traffic Accident

HIGHLAND (CBSLA.com) —  The San Bernardino Sheriff's Department arrested two adults on child endangerment charges after allegedly finding nitrous oxide in their vehicle following a head-on traffic collision Saturday.

Deputies responded to the report of the collision at Central Avenue and 13th Street in Highland just before 4:10 p.m.

Authorities said one of the drivers, 23-year-old Paul Dominguez, and his passenger, 24-year-old Alicia Duarte, were found to be under the influence of an inhalant. A nitrous oxide canister was reportedly found in the vehicle. The two were allegedly inhaling from the canister just prior to the collision.

Dominguez' child and another juvenile were passengers in the car. Both juveniles sustained minor injuries and were transported to the hospital.

Dominguez was arrested and booked at the Central Detention Center for felony child endangerment, possession/use of nitrous oxide and violation of parole. Duarte was arrested for felony child endangerment and possession/use of nitrous oxide. She was later released.

Officials said Children and Family Services was notified and is conducting an additional investigation.
