Caught On Video: Man Attempts To Steal Money From Bank In Torrance

TORRANCE (CBSLA.com) — Police sought the public's help Tuesday to locate a man who attempted to steal money from the bank account of another person in Torrance.

Around 11:45 a.m. on Monday, the suspect entered US Bank located in the 2800 block of Sepulveda Boulevard, according to the Torrance Police Department.

Surveillance video revealed he approached the teller window with a withdrawal slip. However, the bank teller realized the slip did not match the suspect's name or photo shown on his license.

When the man was unable to correctly answer security questions listed on the bank account, he advised the teller he was going to his car to retrieve his passport. The suspect never returned to the bank.

Detectives described the suspect as a Caucasian man who is believed to be in his late 30s. He has dirty blonde hair, a mustache and goatee, a medium build and stands 5'9" tall.

The suspect was last seen wearing a long sleeve button-up shirt with dark pants. He was possibly wearing a brace on his right index finger.

No vehicle was seen in the area.

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information regarding the identity or whereabouts of this suspect has been urged to contact the Torrance Police Department at (310) 618-5570.
