Firefighters Decry Shooting Aimed At Unoccupied Ambulance In Oxnard
OXNARD (CBSLA.com) — A Gold Coast ambulance at the scene of an emergency call was shot at with a BB gun, but no one was inside the vehicle at the time, authorities said Monday.
Gold Coast Ambulance posted a picture of the intact but shattered window early Sunday night on its Facebook page. The ambulance had responded to an emergency in the 300 block of North Roosevelt.
No injuries were reported, according to Oxnard Firefighters IAFF Local 1684, which reposted the photo.
"Gold Coast Paramedics are the first line of defense for all 911 emergency calls with highly trained paramedics who are an asset to our community, as well as OFD firefighters and police," the Oxnard firefighters union wrote. "If they go down, we go down."
Oxnard police officers who responded to the scene did not find any suspects.
Gold Coast Ambulance, which is based in Oxnard, serves the Ventura County area and also works with the Naval Fire Department.
