Unusual Art Experience Draws Huge Crowds To Watch Thousands Of Rose Petals Drop

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A gift delivered by an anonymous group of artists in downtown Los Angeles attracted hundreds of people on Saturday.

From dawn to dusk, thousands of rose petals appeared to fall from the sky in a narrow alley as attendees walked through the "Petal Drop" exhibit.

"Petal Drop" was created by the group of artists to change the way we see the world.

"We're stuck in certain modes of reality where we have expectations of not having roses falling from the sky," said attendee Ghassan Sarkis. "We always have the choice of seeing roses or no roses."

CBS2's Joy Benedict reported so many people showed up that organizers had to hand out tickets in order to accommodate for the line, which wrapped around the corner.

Around 300 spots filled up within the first two hours. Some of the people who were waiting, admittedly didn't even know why they lined up -- some of them waited on line for three hours.

"I guess I'm here to experience something new," said another.

Fifteen people were allowed to walk through the alley for 11 minutes.

"It takes you to another world it's like a fantasy," said Bronson Sarmento. "I felt like I was dreaming."

"It was incredible," said one man who experienced the exhibit.
