LAPD Detective Arrested In Threats To Ex-Boyfriend, Filing False Report
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A detective from the Los Angeles Police Department was arrested Thursday, accused of threatening an ex-boyfriend and having him arrested by filing a false police report, which accused him of sexual assault.
Christine Wycoff, 44, met the alleged victim online in June 2014. They had a sexual relationship that lasted several months.
According to the District Attorney's Office, when the relationship soured, Wycoff threatened the man. He reported it to the LAPD, which began an internal investigation.
Wycoff told the man that if he cooperated with police, she would accuse him of domestic violence, prosecutors said.
She later filed a report with Torrance police claiming the man had sexually assaulted her. He was arrested but was quickly released.
The detective was freed on $150,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned on Feb. 22 on charges of dissuading a witness and false imprisonment. She faces up to four years and eight months in prison if convicted.
Wycoff has been assigned to home duty with pay. The LAPD said Wycoff has been with the department for 17 years.
