San Bernardino Police Seek Suspect They Say Robbed Gas Station At Gunpoint Wearing Clown Mask

SAN BERNARDINO (CBSLA.com) — Police on Tuesday night were searching for a man suspected of robbing a gas station attendant at gunpoint -- while wearing an evil clown mask.

The robbery occurred at about 10 p.m. on Monday night at an AM/PM gas station and convenience store on South Inland Center Drive.

The employee who was working at the time said he felt like he was in a horror movie.

"There was just a man, he came in with his hood over his head he was face down and you could kind of see the top of the mask," said the employee, who asked not to be named. "(The mask) looked like it was from the movie "IT" -- like big teeth, a red nose, black at the top and all white."

The suspect held employees at gunpoint, police said, and took the entire cash register drawer.

He was wearing blue jeans and was described by San Bernardino Police as a black man, about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing about 190 pounds.

The suspect may have driven away from the scene with another person in a Silver Jeep, but the gas station employee said he did not get a good look.

Anyone with information on the crime was being asked to contact the San Bernardino Police Department at 909-384-5742.
