Ex-Wife Of Mysteriously Decapitated Man Says She Can't Get Answers From Inglewood Police

INGLEWOOD (CBSLA.com) — After Norma Hollis' ex-husband was found decapitated in his apartment in June, she was prepared to wait patiently for details to be released surrounding his mysterious death.

But seven months later, her patience has run out. She says not only has she not received answers from detectives, but can't even get a call back from the Inglewood Police Department.

"First, the phone is not answered," she said. "Then I leave a voicemail and there's no call back."

In June, Hollis' ex-husband, 75-year-old Robert Hollis, was found dead by his son in his Inglewood apartment. He was a well-known fixture in the community, known by many as "Mr. Bojangles."

Norma Hollis said she was still in touch with Robert Hills every day until his death and was devastated.

In August, she called the office of Inglewood Mayor James Butts in tears, looking for answers.

In an effort to break ground in the case, the city put together a task force and took the unusual step of offering $50,000 for tips that would lead to an arrest.

"Not only was he murdered, but his body was defiled in a despicable manner," Butts said at the time. "We want to make a statement that we're with the family and this won't be tolerated."

But thus far the case appears to have gone cold -- at least as far as Norma Hollis has been told.  There has been no arrest, no suspects named and no reports that Robert Hollis' head has been found.

"He's the man I loved," Norma Hollis said. "I want to know what caused him to no longer be here with us."

The Inglewood Police Department told KCAL9's Dave Lopez that the investigation is ongoing, but the police department refused to comment further on the case.
