Ex-Rams QB Vince Ferragamo Welcomes Team Back To LA

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Former Los Angeles Rams quarterback Vince Ferragamo grew up a Rams fan in Torrance.

Now, he's celebrating that a new generation of Southland football fans will have the same chance. On Tuesday, NFL owners voted to allow the team to move to Inglewood.

"It's a homecoming in a way," said Ferragamo, who led the Rams to a Super Bowl berth in 1979. "This is Hollywood. This is where the Rams should be."

Like many other Rams fans, Ferragamo received the news on his mobile phone.

"I started getting all these text messages and all these phone calls and I had so many different emotions," he said. "Some people were crying."

Ferragamo is now a vintner living in Orange -- far from the spotlight he enjoyed as an NFL star -- but he said he will relish the opportunity to get involved with the franchise. He hopes his former teammates will do the same.

"When you kind of admire and recognize the old, it inspires the future players," he said. "I think that's gonna be important for the Rams."
