Expert Predicts 'Spotlight', 'The Big Short' To Win Golden Globes

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — "Spotlight" is predicted to win for best motion picture drama during Sunday night's presentation of the 73rd annual Golden Globe Awards.

"Thus far, it has been winning all of the awards," said Kylie Erica Mar, a segment reporter for the syndicated series "Made in Hollywood." "I think that it will continue to win the awards for Golden Globes."

Mar also predicts that "The Big Short" will win for best motion picture musical or comedy.

"The [Hollywood Foreign Picture Association] generally like to choose a movie that's more prestigious and just slightly humorous so I think that they are going to choose 'The Big Short,' " she said.

"My runner-up is 'The Martian.' I would personally choose 'The Martian.' I think it is the best picture of the year, but 'The Big Short' everyone seems to love," Mar said.

Mar predicts that Leonardo DiCaprio will win best actor in a drama for his role in "The Revenant."

"I think this is definitely his year. Granted, every actor in this category gave incredibly performances this year, but Leo's commitment to this role was really astounding. He shot in real conditions. That bear scene that everyone is talking about is so insane. It really is his year," she said.

Brie Larson for "Room" is predicted to win in the category of best actress in motion picture drama.

"She's very good in the film. It's one of my favorite films of the year," Mar said.

Mar also predicts that Matt Damon will win best actor in a motion picture musical or drama for his performance in "The Martian."

The Globes will be given out in Beverly Hills.
