Police Investigate Chris Brown Over Allegation Of Battery, Assault In Vegas

LAS VEGAS (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say they are investigating Chris Brown in connection with an allegation of an assault and battery at a Las Vegas hotel, but few details were released.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department told CBS affiliate KLAS that the alleged incident unfolded about 10:20 a.m. Saturday at the Palms Casino Resort.

Over the phone, police told the news station that Brown was considered a "suspect." It remains unclear whether Brown was arrested, however.

KLAS says there have been no reports of injuries.

According to his Twitter feed, Brown was performing in Vegas over the weekend at the Drai's nightclub, which is located in the Cromwell Hotel.

The incident remains under investigation, police said.

Brown was released from probation last year in connection with the 2009 assault case in Los Angeles involving Rihanna, who was his former girlfriend.

The victim was alleged to have been battered by Brown, who at the same time took her cell phone.

A verbal altercation took place as the victim was escorted off the property by hotel security, Police confirmed.

A short time later, the victim returned to the hotel where she reported the incident to hotel security.

This is a developing news report. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
